Frequently Asked Questions

When you begin your search for a home inspection, there are ten important questions you should have answered before you select your home inspector.  At the bottom of this page you may select a checkbox or checkboxes along with providing us with your email address.  7 Oaks Home Inspection will respond to your inquiry immediately with our responses to the questions you have.  If you have questions in addition to the 10 listed below, please type them in the blank space and we will address those as well.

When you call us, ask about a FREE RADON Test for your home! 

1. What does your inspection cover? 

All seven areas of the home are covered in detail. Roof, Heating, Air, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, Exterior. There are no additional charges. No add one fees. No "sell them on the spot" strategies. In addition for NO additional charge inspections are done for microwave leakage, carbon monoxide testing, moisture meter analysis and fireplace safety and function. 7 Oaks Home Inspection will go above and beyond the American Society of Home Inspector's well-recognized standard of practice and code of ethics. A copy of these standards will be mailed, faxed or emailed upon request. In addition, 7 Oaks Home Inspection will give extra time and attention to any areas you are concerned about or that were disclosed by the owners.  Your report will be 32 pages and presented in an attractive folder.

2. How long have you been practicing in the home inspection profession and how many inspections have you completed? 

Wes Kelley, owner of 7 Oaks Home Inspection has been a professional, full time home inspector for 5 years. 

3. Are you specifically experienced in residential inspection? 

The owner of 7 Oaks Home Inspection, Wes Kelley has over 30 years of industry experience and 5 years full time inspecting homes. He has been trained by American Home Inspection Training and obtains 24 hours continuing education each year. In addition he maintains all in-service requirements to maintain his state licenses with the Mo. Dept. of Health and Senior Services and Mo. Dept. of Agriculture.

4. Do you offer to do repairs or improvements based on the inspection? 

7 Oaks Home Inspection does not perform repairs as this could be a conflict of interest. It is in our customers best interest to supply a list of reliable, experienced and reasonable area professionals to perform any corrections or repairs to an existing home. 

5. How long will the inspection take? 

The average on-site inspection time for a single inspector is two to three hours for a typical single-family house; anything significantly less may not be enough time to perform a thorough inspection. Additional inspectors may be brought in for very large properties and buildings. 

6. How much will it cost? 

Costs vary dramatically, depending on the region, size and age of the house, scope of services and other factors. A typical range might be $300-$500, but consider the value of the home inspection in terms of the investment being made. Our fees are considerably lower than the area averages. We also offer discount coupons and combination discounts where than savings can be in the $100's of dollars.
 

7. What type of inspection report do you provide and how long will it take to receive the report? 

7 Oaks Home Inspection offers a 32 page written report with color photos on the spot. That's right! At the time of inspection, after all your questions are answered and you're ready to go home we will hand you your report including two copies. This is a huge advantage which allows you to review and consider noted items while the home inspection is fresh in your mind. We also offer digital reports which can be emailed or faxed. 

8. Will I be able to attend the inspection? 

This is a valuable educational opportunity, and part of what makes using 7 Oaks Home Inspection the best choice. Wes and his team will take time to answer ALL of your questions on the spot. You won't feel rushed and never intimidated. They will teach and demonstrate various maintenance items specific to that home. In addition -for as long as you own that home -Wes and his team will answer any questions by phone (preferably after 4pm) about that home FOR FREE for as long as you live there.  

9. Do you maintain membership in a professional home inspector association? 

Wes Kelley is a full member in good standing with ASHI #244863 (American Society of Home Inspectors), and NACHI #05032789, (National Association of Certified Home Inspectors). He is a state licensed inspector for Septic and Well #50566 and #32531 and with Mo. Dept. of Agriculture for wood destroying insects # NO4764. He participates in local chapter seminars, and is a member of the Warrenton Chamber of Commerce and Warrenton Business Network. 

10. Do you participate in continuing education programs to keep your expertise up to date? 

One can never know it all, and 7 Oaks believes a commitment to continuing education is a good measure of our professionalism and service to our consumers. This is especially important in cases where the home is much older or includes unique elements requiring additional or updated training.
